New
parameters for Acuvue
Vistakon
announces expanded parameters for its Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. The 24 new parameters
include Acuvue Oasys High Minus in powers from –6.50D to –12.00D (in
0.50D steps) and Acuvue Oasys High Plus in powers from +4.25D to +6.00D (in 0.25D
steps) and +6.50D to +8.00D (in 0.50D steps). The lenses are indicated for daily-wear
vision correction and may also be worn for up to six consecutive nights/seven days
of overnight wear.

Practitioner-only contact lens
Ocu-Ease
Optical presents the latest addition to its line of disposable contact lenses, the
Ocu-Ease Elite. The lens is made of methafilcon A, 55% water and features visibility
tinting. It's available in base curves of 8.4mm and 8.8mm, and powers from
-12.00D to +8.00D in 0.25D steps. The Elite comes in blister six-packs and
is available only to practitioners.

magnifier, the Makrolux, is designed to reduce fatigue and strain for low vision
patients. It features a 2.2X magnification lens that's lit by bright LED illumination,
as well as a rectangular 9mm x 30mm viewing area that's easy to navigate across
lines of text; the width of the reading area covers the column width of many newspapers
and magazines. Additionally, the forward-tilted, angled lens supports a comfortable
reading position.

Sauflon
says its recently-introduced contact lens, the Sauflon 55UV Aspheric, provides patients,
including low astigmatic and emerging presbyopes, improved visual acuity. The lens
combines an aspheric front surface with the company's proprietary Advanced Edge
Design manufacturing process. It's made of methafilcon A and provides UVA and UVB
protection. Powers range from +8.00D to –10.00D. The lens is available exclusively
to eye care practitioners.

multifunctional Eyegenie features soft-grip, disposable tips.

Wilson Ophthalmic presents the
Eyegenie, an external eyelid retractor for contact lens insertion and evaluation,
tonometry, slit lamp examination and ointment application. It features soft-grip,
disposable tips that enable precisely-controlled eyelid positioning. Access to the
eye is now hygienic and finger-free, the company says. Patients can use it as well
as practitioners. Wilson is currently offering a free sample of the Eyegenie.
