  • Prevent Blindness’ The National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health at Prevent Blindness has called for nominations for the sixth annual “Bonnie Strickland Champion for Children’s Vision Award,” which recognizes significant efforts to improve public health approaches for children’s vision and eye health. Mr. Chute, who joined the RestoringVision board in 2007, succeeds Mark Sachs, RestoringVision Founder and Chairman Emeritus, and brings over 34 years of optical industry experience, as the co-founder and CEO of ThinOptics, and the President of i2C Ventures, a company that consults, commercializes and invests in early-stage proprietary companies in the eyewear industry.

  • Novartis announced it has completed the acquisition of Amblyotech, a U.S.-based software startup that provides active gaming and passive video technology to train the eyes to work together. Novartis now plans to work in partnership with video game developer, Ubisoft, to develop the Amblyotech software as a medical device (SaMD), create a series of engaging games for the device and conduct a proof-of-concept study planned for later this year.
