- The American Academy of Optometry has announced the availability of Academy Classroom Exchange, or ACE, as part of its annual meeting, taking place virtually Oct. 7 to Oct. 22. The curriculum is comprised of hour-long courses designed for no more than 36 attendees, with no more than two lecturers, to provide small group learning experiences, the organization says. - The Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE) is advising eye care professionals to be on the lookout for mask-associated dry eye (MADE), which can worsen symptoms in patients who have pre-existing dry eye disease, while also having negative effects on the elderly, contact lens wearers and masked people working extended hours in air-conditioned settings and/or while using digital screens. CORE suggests ECPs, in part, routinely ask all patients how their eyes feel while wearing a mask and provide advice on alleviating the symptoms.
