Johnson & Johnson Vision has introduced the Acuvue Oasys Max 1-Day Multifocal for Astigmatism. The daily disposable contact lens is designed for patients with both astigmatism and presbyopia, and it is now available in the United States and Canada. Broader international availability is expected later in 2025.

In clinical trials, 95% of users reported clear vision during daily activities, 87% said they saw clearly while driving at night, and 92% reported all-day comfort.
The lenses integrate 4 proprietary technologies that minimize lens rotation to ensure stable vision during blinking and head movements, accommodate changes in pupil size due to age and light conditions to improve presbyopic vision correction, enhance moisture retention for sustained hydration and comfort throughout the day, and filter 60% of blue-violet light.
Astigmatism affects approximately 50% of the global population, and presbyopia typically begins in the early to mid-40s. According to a company press release, the lenses address the “compromise” that patients with both conditions often had to make: switching to reusable lenses or wearing reading glasses in addition to contact lenses.
